23 october 2008 - StoLPaN, Ennova Research and Regione del Veneto supporting a NFC trial on the Dolomites.
Ennova Research, a StoLPaN partner is proud to announce the kick-off of a trial project on NFC based services in the Dolomites area of Falcade. Services will include infotainment, loyalty and booking applications. Andras Vilmos, StoLPaN’s Project Manager and Programme Coordinator, Elvio Tasso, Antonino Mola and Gianluigi Cogo - Regione del Veneto, Stefano Murer - the Major of the CIty of Falcade, Alice Moroni - Cattid, Raffaele Andreace and Alberto Piccinno - Ennova Research, among others, attended the kick-off.
Initial deployment is expected before the ski season opening. Progressive roll-outs are planned within the 1H/2009. This tight schedule is the result of years of experience and a ready-for-personalization application framework made available and delivered by the StoLPaN Consortium and its members.
The StoLPaN trial project is strongly supported by Regione del Veneto and the Municipality of Falcade along with local entities. The trial will enable usability studies and field testing of the StoLPaN framework as a technology enabler for many NFC services and application use cases.
On the StoLPaN side, among other supporting companies, AFF (Hungary - NFC Applications and Systems R&D), Cattid (Italy - RFID Lab La Sapienza - Usability) and Ennova Research (Italy - NFC Applications and Systems R&D) will strongly cooperate in order to guarantee the accurate timing of the project’s milestones delivery.
Local trial end-user participants will also feel the power of NFC enhancements on existing digital applications deployed in the area of Falcade, just by walking around, tapping and messaging.
About StoLPaN. StoLPaN is a pan-European consortium supported by the European Commission’s IST program. StoLPaN will examine the as yet untapped potential for bringing together the new kind of local wireless interface, NFC and mobile communication. The project is expected to define the Business Rules and Technical Specifications required for the successful commercial deployment of third party applications into the Secure Chip in an NFC-enabled mobile device. These will be submitted to the relevant trade bodies for adoption by the payment, mobile, transit and ticketing industries to create a standardized NFC ecosystem. The project will establish a smart retail environment including support devices and business processes to demonstrate the new solutions. (see also http://www.stolpan.com)
